Climate and Sustainability

'Scotland has everything it takes to show international leadership by charting a concrete path to carbon neutrality by 2045. With the 26th Conference of the Parties coming to the UK in 2021, it is time for Scotland to lay out this path.'

Christiana Figueres, Former Executive Secretary, UN Climate Convention

Take a look below at all of the things that Edinburgh Science, and our partners, are doing to help combat the climate crisis including our exciting Climate Co-Lab Meetings (formerly Climate Opportunity Ideas Factory).

Plus, we've provided some tips to help you be a little bit greener at the Festival, on the go and at home.

The NetZeroToolkit is a project that came out of our Climate Co-Lab round table meetings. Free to use, small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) of any size can systematically address eight core components of their operations and through following prompts and using a carefully selected set of resources, they can build their carbon reduction strategies. The objectives of the project are to:

1. Raise awareness of the need for businesses to quickly reduce their environmental impacts in support of national and international sustainability targets

2. Build momentum for a national campaign that enlists many businesses, building a strong network of SMEs with a keen eye on our futures

3. Simplify the process of measuring and reducing carbon emissions

4. Rapidly and permanently reduce the environmental impact of Scottish businesses
