In addition to delivering Edinburgh’s annual Science Festival and a variety of education programmes in Scotland, we regularly take on additional special projects across the UK and internationally.
When working on these projects, we bring extensive expertise in creating and delivering interactive and entertaining educational experiences and provide content that is engaging and inspirational. We can also support partners with programme curation and event logistics and production, as well as providing Science Communication and event specific training for local staff.
Further information on some of the projects we have worked on is listed below – click on the titles on the left to find out more about each project.
In 2013 our schools touring model expanded internationally for the first time. We worked with the Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee to deliver a brand new schools science outreach programme called Lema? meaning ‘why’ in Arabic.
For the first year of the project we adapted some of our popular education shows and workshops to suit UAE children, helped set up and support tour logistics and operations and worked with local partners to recruit and train a team of local staff so that activities could be delivered bilingually in Arabic and/or English as required to meet the needs of local schools. In 2014 the project expanded further and we continued to support our local partners to deliver three terms of science shows. We also designed teacher resource packs to provide additional support to teachers in delivering science education. In 2015/16 we continued to support the programme through the development of new activities for the tour.
In 2019 we will produce a new show for Lema? which will be set in a hospital focusing on the different machines and people we encounter in this environment. The new show will roll out across the Lema? touring programme in October 2019.
