Engineering | Edinburgh Science Festival 2021

Posted: 04 July 2021 by Edinburgh Science

Are you fascinated by how science is used to design and build machines, structures and other items? Then these are the events for you!

This is Engineering… As You’ve Never Seen It Before, supported by Royal Academy of Engineering, is a photography exhibition that takes you on a fascinating journey through some of the UK’s greatest engineering innovations. You can view this exhibition on our website, or in person on The Mound. The Greatest Inventions of the Future is a panel discussion that explores the constants that tie together humanity’s relationship with technology through time, and speculates what the people of 2021 might single out as today’s most important discoveries.

Nearly 60 years after the first woman was launched into orbit, Spacewomen brings together women who are working in the space industry across the world to share their career experiences and hopes for the future. Satellite’s Eye View, supported by Ecometrica, is a discussion that explores how mapping and monitoring by satellites are integral to connecting the globe and combating climate change.

Young budding engineers can try out Speedy Sails, our fun interactive workshop where you’ll learn how to design, build and test your very own land yacht!
