Leave a Legacy

If our activities have entertained, educated or inspired you, please consider including a legacy in your will. This will help ensure our Festival and Learning programmes have a sustainable future and that your memory will live on. By leaving a gift to Edinburgh Science you will be supporting the next generation of innovators, engineers, scientists and technologists, encouraging them to stand on the shoulders of giants and reach their potential.

Making a will protects your wishes and can have positive implications on inheritance tax when choosing to leave a gift. You can choose to write a will yourself, but this should be verified by a solicitor to ensure your wishes will be carried out. By working with a solicitor to write your will they will be able to explain the best options for you and give advice that’s confidential and puts your interests first, equally you can be assured your will is executed according to your wishes.

We recommend that you seek the advice of a solicitor before choosing what type of legacy you would like to leave. There are many options when choosing to leave a legacy – browse the tabs below to find out more.

We understand that some people choosing to leave a will regard this as a private decision that should only be shared with family. If you are considering leaving a gift to Edinburgh Science please consider contacting us to discuss how you would like your gift to be used.

Should you decide to leave a gift to Edinburgh Science please use our full name:

Pecuniary Legacy

A Pecuniary Legacy is a fixed sum of money. It is worth noting that pecuniary legacies tend to decrease in value over time due to rises in inflation and need to be reviewed in order to maintain their intended value. For example a legacy of £1,000 made in 1995 would amount to £562 today. A simple way to ensure your gift has the intended impact is to link your gift to the retail price index.
