About the event

Nearly 120 years ago the Wright Brothers flew the first powered and controlled aeroplane. Take inspiration from our Civil Aviation collection and make your own flying machine.

Tour of the Civil Aviation Hangar 11am & 1.30pm: Join this family tour to discover why the aircraft in our Civil Aviation Hangar are al different shapes and sizes.

Family Technical Challenge 11.30am & 2pm: Build a glider from craft materials, or adapt one from the scrap heap, and see how far it can fly. The Wright brothers managed 37 metres on their first attempt, can you do better?
