In the Footsteps of James Clerk Maxwell
James Clerk Maxwell, Scotland’s greatest physicist, made massive leaps forward in our knowledge and understanding of electricity, magnetism and light. Prof Sir David Payne, director of the Optoelectronics Research Centre at the University of Southampton, is building on those foundations.
A pioneer of technology, he has led the field of telecommunications and laser research for many years and achieved international acclaim in the area of photonics. In this talk, Prof Payne shares stories of trials and tribulations from the research world.
